Geographical indications of origin in the EU
The project "EU - support for the internal market", in cooperation with the Judicial Academy of the Republic of Serbia, continues with the implementation of the cycle of seminars in the field of intellectual property and competition law. This time, a seminar was held on the topic "Geographical indications of origin in the EU".
The seminar was held on November 13 and 14, 2025 in Belgrade.
The lecturer at the seminar was judge Krasimira Milačkova, judge of the Administrative Court in Sofia, specialized in intellectual property and competition law.
The seminar was held for judges and assistant judges of the Administrative Court, the Commercial Court, the Commercial Court of Appeal and the Court of Appeal in Belgrade, as well as for representatives of the Intellectual Property Office and the Ministry of Agriculture.
Among other things, the lecturer told the participants about:
• Geographical origin for wines, spirits and agricultural products;
• Protection of geographical origin for craft and industrial products;
• Food labeling using designations of origin or protected geographical origin as ingredients;
• The judicial practice of the European Union.
