On 7 October 2019, in the Appellate Court in Niš, organized by the Judicial Academy, with the support of the USAID Rule of Law Project and the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Serbia, the training course was provided related to the amendments and supplements to the Law on Enforcement and Security, which will start being applied as of 1 January 2020. The training course was attended by the judges of the commercial, high and basic courts from the territory of the Niš appellate jurisdiction, as well as by public enforcement officers.

Today, in the Institute of Criminological and Sociological Research, organized by the Judicial Academy, with the support of the USAID Rule of Law Project and the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Serbia, the first out of the envisaged ten training courses was provided, intended for judges and public enforcement officers, related to the amended legal framework in the area of enforcement and security, which is going to be applied as of 1 January 2020.

On the occasion of one year of enforcement of the Law on Organization and Jurisdiction of State Authorities in Combating Organized Crime, Terrorism and Corruption, an Anti-Corruption Forum, organized by the Ministry of Justice, a team of the EU Project Prevention and Fight against Corruption was held at the Officers’ Club in Nis on 10 April 2019, where the results of new anti-corruption regional centres were presented.

The Judicial Academy, together with the Ministry of Justice organized a training entitled the Law on the Prevention of Domestic Violence. The training was held at the Appellate Court in Novi Sad on 19 April 2019.

The training was attended by judges, deputy public prosecutors of Basic Courts and High Courts and Prosecutor’s Offices within the Novi Sad Appellate Court jurisdiction.
The topics discussed during the training included:
  • International and the latest European standards against domestic violence;
  • The Law on the Prevention of Domestic Violence – action by competent government bodies i.e. the law enforcement, prosecutor’s offices and the courts;
  • Risk assessment with a special insight into victims of violence;
  • Urgent measures;
  • Multi-sectoral cooperation through work of the Coordination and cooperation group of contact persons.

The lecturers on this training were Olivera Pejak-Prokeš, an Appellate Court judge in Novi Sad and Marica Dujin, Deputy Appellate Public Prosecutor in Novi Sad.

The training was held in Niš on 28 May at the Judicial Academy’s conference room, and it was attended by judges within the Niš Appellate Court jurisdiction.
